On this date in 2020, absolutely nothing happened in baseball. The reason being, Saddleback's regularly scheduled baseball game against Cypress College had been moved up to March 11 due to an impending rain storm forecast for March 12. What people didn't realize at the time is that it would be the last game of the season, as the rest of the season was lost to COVID-19. Saddleback hammered out 14 hits against the top-ranked Chargers in winning, 8-4. Ashton Goddard (pictured) came in and shut down the Charger attack, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win after Saddleback had built a 6-3 lead. The baseball team would finish the season 16-5 overall with the No. 2 RPI in the state.
