Football commits approaching 30

The Saddleback football program has been making headlines in recent weeks as a number of players have been taking official visits and looking to sign a late deal with a four-year school.  The Bobcats had two more commits this week, bringing the total to 28 for the year.

Saddleback had a big season in 2025 when it went 10-2 and made it all the way to the 3C2A Southern California Regional Finals.  The scouts from around the country have taken notice and keep heading to Mission Viejo in need of championship caliber athletes for this upcoming season. 

Saddleback had two more commitments to the NCAA D1 ranks in linebacker Orlando Gonzalez and offensive lineman Anthony Hastings.  Gonzalez gave a commitment to Indiana State University while Hastings will head to the University of Nevada.

Gonzalez was a Second Team All-National Division Southern League selection after finishing eighth on the team in total tackles.  Gonzalez totaled 33 total tackles with three tackles-for-loss, one fumble recovery and one interception last fall.  The freshman from Salpointe Catholic (AZ) will head to Indiana State, located in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The Sycamores play an NCAA D1 schedule within the Missouri Valley Conference.

Hastings was a freshman from Corona del Mar High School and part of an offensive line that has had five guys sign with D1 programs.   Hastings will play at Nevada, located in Reno, Nevada.  The Wolfpack play an NCAA D1 schedule within the Mountain West Conference. 

Saddleback now has 28 football commitments from the 2025 squad to four-year universities.
