The Saddleback women's basketball team was named the No. 9 seed for the upcoming 3C2A Southern California Regional Tournament on Sunday. The Bobcats will host Los Angeles Mission College on Wednesday night.
Saddleback was 20-8 during the course of the season, which was the first 20-win season since 2016-17 when the program won 21 games.
Saddleback finished 8-4 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play and in a three-way tie for second place in the OEC standings. The Bobcats will host Los Angeles Mission College, who finished 15-13 overall and in fourth place in the Western State Conference-North Division at 6-6. The winner will travel to Glendale College, who earned the No. 8 seed by finishing 24-4 overall and a perfect 16-0 in the Western State Conference-South Division play. That game will take place at Glendale on Saturday.
Saddleback and Los Angeles Mission have not met this season. However, the teams have played a number of common opponents. Saddleback was 6-3 against Santa Ana, MiraCosta, Irvine Valley, Cuyamaca, Citrus, Santa Barbara City and Cerritos while LA Mission was 3-5 against those programs.
Saddleback and Los Angeles Mission are scheduled to tip off inside the gymnasium at 7:30 PM on Wednesday night.
GAME NOTE: This will be the first appearance in the playoffs for Saddleback women's basketball since 2017. In 2017, Saddleback had a bye in round one of the playoffs before fallling to Pasadena City College in the regional semifinals, 72-65.
